Hello Friends!

We hope you all had a wonderful summer and are enjoying a beautiful autumn season.

The Galway Team had a busy summer with another wonderful Galway Flute Festival in Weggis! For the first time, we live-streamed lessons and recitals through Facebook Live, which exceeded 12 million views! Our sincerest thanks to everyone involved in helping make it a huge success. We are extremely grateful for our sponsors, who helped make the Festival possible and made it possible for us to award numerous headjoints and instruments to students! We are pleased to announce Barbara Kortmann and Stephen Clark as our 2016 Rising Stars, who will be returning next year to perform a recital!

Due to the large excitement generated by this year’s festival, we anticipate a large amount of applicants for next year. Be sure to apply early, as space will be limited! Registration for the 2017 Galway Flute Festival will open 1 November 2016. We already have a fantastic list of Guest Artists for 2017!

We look forward to touring throughout Europe the next few months, along with our annual Residency at Villa Medici Giulini in Italy. You can learn more about our concerts and events on Sir James’ NEW website!  We are working hard on launching the full Galway Flute Academy, rebranding of the First FluteFoundation series and introducing the new Live Learn series. Sign up on the Galway Flute Academy website to be the first to know when they are launched! In the meantime, be sure to review your lessons on First Flute.

In addition to being busy with touring, concerts and educational events, we are pleased to announce a new partnership with Gemeinhardt Flutes! Sir James worked very closely with Gemeinhardt to build a headjoint with a great attack and even tone in all three registers with possibility to change the colors. Sir James believes the color spectrum is greater on this headjoint than many of the leading brands. The Crusader headjoint is available at your local Gemeinhardt dealer in the next few months!

We are looking forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming concerts or flute events. In the meantime, we wish you many hours of happy flute playing!

– Sir James & Lady Jeanne Galway
